Arsenal look set to face an uphill battle for Karim Benzema's signature, with Jose Mourinho insisting the star is not for sale.
"It is not a case of me refusing to sell them,” Mournho said of Benzema and Real Madrid teammate Gonzalo Higuain.
“I don't make those decisions. If the club want to do something, I'm nobody. We all agree on Higuain and Benzema: we want to keep them."
Arsene Wenger recently admitted to taking a liking to Benzema, with the Arsenal manager revealing that signing the star was a possibility the club were considering.
"Signing him does not seem impossible. He's a player that I like,” Wenger said.
The France international has scored 21 goals in 27 appearances for Real Madrid this season, putting him on numerous clubs’ transfer wish lists.
But Arsenal appeared favourites to land Benzema, should he decide to leave the Spanish giants, with Wenger reportedly willing to spend big this summer in an effort to bring an end to Arsenal’s trophy drought.
The fight to sign Benzema is looking increasingly more difficult for the Gunners though, particularly if Madrid’s board is decided on keeping the star.
