Manchester United striker Federico Macheda will be at Old Trafford for the entirety of next season, at least that is according to his agent.
The 19-year-old spent the second-half of the last campaign on loan with Sampdoria, but failed to score in 14 appearances as the Italian club were relegated from Serie A.
Sir Alex Ferguson had previously stated that Macheda would indeed return to Old Trafford at the end of the loan spell, and now the player's representative has confirmed his client will fight for his place with United.
“As far as I am aware, Manchester United intend to keep Macheda,” Giovanni Bia told Radio Mana Mana.
“They don’t want to loan him out again.”
With Danny Welbeck also expected to return to the United fold after an impressive season with Sunderland, Macheda is also set to battle with Wayne Rooney, Javier Hernandez and Michael Owen for a spot in Sir Alex Ferguson's side.
Whether or not Dimitar Berbatov will also stand in the way of the Italy under 21 international remains to be seen, with reports suggesting the Bulgarian could leave Old Trafford during the summer having been phased out during the final weeks of the last season.
