Arsenal starlet Jack Wilshere is planning to rest up over the next four weeks, with the 19-year-old ready to hit full throttle next season as the Gunners look to push for the trophies which have eluded them for six years.
"I have to get my feet up," said Wilshere, who at one time looked set to represent the England Under 21s at next week’s European Championship finals. "I've got four weeks off.
"It has been a crazy year. At the start of the year, there was talk of me going back on loan to Bolton. The manager at Arsenal said he wanted me to play 20-25 games and I've played 60 games this year.
"Hopefully I can get a bit more taste of international football next year and carry on performing for my club."
The starlet wasn’t included in Stuart Pearce’s England Under-21 squad, and will have the next four weeks as time to relax and get ready for the season ahead.
Bit Wilshere is mindful of the high expectations that have been placed on him for next season, as Arsenal hope to finish their six year long trophy drought.
"I play at a big club - the expectation level is big,” the midfielder said. “From when I was 16, the expectation has always been high. We are a top four club and we want to deliver trophies and win every game."
