Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov is already counting down to the start of next season.
The Bulgarian forward recently pledged his allegiance to the cause at Old Trafford, despite press speculation linking him with a move away from the club, and last season's Barclays Premier League golden boot winner is already raring to go.
“I’m looking forward to the tour because I really enjoyed my time in America last year. Everybody was very nice and friendly and the cities are very interesting," Berbatov told the official Manchester United website.
“We’ll see a few different places this year and meet different people, which is good. I must admit, a lot of people, including myself, were hoping we would go back to America this year. We’re all excited.”
Sir Alex Ferguson and Patrice Evra are two players who have already voiced their opinions over the tour, and Berbatov agrees with the pair in reference to its importance for the players.
Less a team bonding experience, the five-games across the country will help the Red Devils sharpen their skills ahead of what's sure to be another long season.
"I’m looking forward to going back with United. The pre-season tour isn’t so much about team bonding – we know each other already and are all very close. It’s more about getting our fitness levels up and preparing for the season so when the first game arrives you’re in top shape," the forward continued.
"If you have a good pre-season you really enjoy the dividends once the real thing kicks off in August.”
