Sunderland have made their moves in the transfer market clear by making a bid for Manchester United stars Wes Brown, John O’Shea and Darron Gibson, according to Sky Sports.
Brown is most likely on the out at United this summer, with the centre back not playing for the side since mid March. Gibson has also had trouble getting starts at Old Trafford, and may be looking for a club this summer that can offer him more game time.
Sunderland are now cash rich after completing a deal for Jordan Henderson to move to Liverpool for a reported £20 million, and believe that with Brown and Gibson out of favour with Sir Alex Ferguson, they may be able to wrangle a deal that also includes star John O’Shea.
While it will be tough to coax O’Shea from United, with the defender a one club man bar a couple of loan spells, Sunderland believe that if they offer the right price, United will consider showing the three the exit.
Ferguson is looking to rebuild the United squad this summer to continue the successes of the title winners, and with Brown and Gibson not playing, and O’Shea pushing early thirties, the manager will most likely consider off loading the trio to bring in young fresh talent.
