Tottenham are reportedly chasing Stuttgart defender Serdar Tasci in their pursuit of summer reinforcements.
German publication Bild claims the north London club are closely monitoring the 24-year-old while, according to Goal.com, Spurs have 'shown an interest' in the €14 million-rated centre-back.
Tasci made 26 appearances in the Bundesliga as Stuttgart flirted with relegation last season, but has impressed a number of clubs with his tenacity and composure while on international duty with Germany.
Spurs are known to be in the market for central defenders and the acquisition of Tasci would certainly keep the likes of Michael Dawson, William Gallas and Ledley King on their toes.
Meanwhile, Harry Redknapp has revealed Spurs tried in vain to sign Blackburn stopper Phil Jones, who is bound for Manchester United.
"We were in for Phil Jones, along with five other top clubs," the Spurs boss told Sky Sports News. "I think everybody was in for the boy.
"I think he is a lad who can one day go on to be an England centre half and maybe a captain of England. I think he is that good.
"He is a great signing for Manchester United."
