MK Dons have warned Peterborough they are not interested in selling striker Sam Baldock.

Posh supremo Barry Fry has earmarked the 22-year-old as a potential replacement for Craig Mackail-Smith, who is poised to move to the Premier League this summer. But Dons chairman Peter Winkleman has reiterated his intention to keep hold of Baldock for the foreseeable future.

"We're committed to building a better team than we had last season," Winkleman told the Citizen. "He is a massive part of MK Dons and has a huge responsibility."

He added: "We're sure he will eventually go on to bigger and better things, but only when the time is right.

"We're not interested in selling our best players."
