Tottenham Hotspur's attempts to bolster their attack have taken blow after their bid to sign Abel Hernandez was rejected by the forward's club Palermo, according to The Daily Telegraph.

The Italian side are expected to be inundated with bids for their prized assets, with Javier Pastore also expected to attract attention.

But Tottenham have opted to bid for Hernandez, but the offer has been rejected, according to the player's agent, Vincenzo D'Ippolito.

When asked about Tottenham's offer he said: "It's true.

"But for the time being I know (Palermo president Maurizio) Zamparini has turned down the offer, although I do not know what the figure was.

"If indeed it was €10 million then it would be considered too low as the value of the player in the market is €20 million.

"The transfer market has just started so we will see what happens."

Despite the hefty asking price, Hernandez scored just twice in 22 matches for Palermo last season, but Tottenham are desperate for attacking enforcement's, with Robbie Keane expected to leave the club.
