Highly rated St Etienne striker Emmanuel Riviere has admitted he is flattered by reports linking him with a summer switch to Arsenal.
The 21-year-old Frenchman told skysports.com that speculation is a welcome reward and recognition for a fine season in Ligue 1 this campaign.
"I am flattered to be linked with the clubs mentioned. I am a young player, so to be linked with Arsenal is fantastic for me," he said.
"If Arsene Wenger is interested in you it means you have potential to be a very good player."
The Gunners boss is keen to strengthen his front line this summer, and has been linked with a number of potential acquisitions including Riviere's compatriot Karim Benzema, currently of Real Madrid.
Arsenal scouts have been busy in France, and are also alleged to have earmarked Lille striker Gervinho for an Emirates move during the close season.
Whether or not a move for Riviere is at the forefront of Wenger’s mind remains to be seen, but comparisons linking the player to Gunners legend Thierry Henry will likely encourage Arsenal's fans.
"People compare me to Thierry Henry, and that is a big compliment. If I can achieve half of his career I will be happy," Riviere confirmed.
