Liverpool are reportedly considering an approach for Sao Paulo teenager Lucas.
According to The Sun, the Reds are planning a £9 million offer to snare the highly-rated attacking midfielder as they begin to increase their activity in the transfer market.
However, Liverpool are likely to be contested in their pursuit of the 18-year-old by Paris Saint-Germain who are said to be keen to bring him to the Parc des Princes.
The French side will hope that the appointment of former Brazil international Leonardo as their manager will see them beat Liverpool to the Samba sensation.
Liverpool, meanwhile, have Brazilian influence of their own at Anfield, with Lucas Leiva and Fabio Aurelio perhaps able to coax young midfielder to Merseyside.
Meanwhile, Liverpool are seemingly closing in on their second signing of the summer, with French winger Sylvain Marveaux expected to put pun to paper at Anfield in the coming days after leaving Rennes.
The 25-year-old has been linked with Liverpool for a number of months and now appears to be on the verge of completing his protracted move.
Liverpool also remain hopeful of finalising a deal for Blackpool captain Charlie Adam, who flew back early from holiday this week to enter into discussions with Kenny Dalglish and Damien Comolli.
