Boss Micky Adams has received the backing of shareholders to join Port Vale's board.

A count on Friday revealed a total of 123,021 shares had been received at the club in favour of the resolution.

This surpassed the minimum requirement of 50% of shares needed for the resolution to be passed.

The Valiants have received notification from the Football League that they are happy to accept the nomination of Adams as a director of Port Vale, meaning that the Club will now have the required four directors and will be able to engage in transfer activity.

Chief Executive Paul Deakin said: "We are obviously delighted that Micky has received the support of our shareholders in joining the board of directors."

Adams added: "It's less than two weeks until the players report for pre-season training and I am very pleased that we are finally able to bring in new faces. It has not been an ideal situation for anyone and I am looking forward to getting out onto the training pitch before the fixtures start in August."
