Valencia have warned potential suitors off a bid for maverick Argentine midfielder Ever Banega.
The 22-year-old playmaker has been linked with a handful of clubs across Europe, and with financial issues still thought to be an issue at the Mestalla, teams have spotted an opportunity to pounce.
Everton have more recently been linked with a move for the player, with talkSPORT claiming a fortnight ago that David Moyes was on 'red alert' to make a bid.
The same website claims Manchester United have been credited with an interest in the player, with Sir Alex Ferguson keen to bolster his ranks at Old Trafford in the attacking midfield department.
The retirement of Paul Scholes has undoubtedly left a hole to fill for the Red Devils, and whilst Tom Cleverly could make the step up internally at Manchester United, it's thought that Ferguson will splash the cash.
Wesley Sneijder and Luka Modric have also been linked with a move to Manchester United this summer, and after Ferguson revealed that the club will look to bring three player in back in May, a bid for a player in the position is expected.
However, Banega appears to be the longshot of all the Manchester United targets, and Valencia sporting director Braulio Vazquez appears to be against the sale.
"It is true that two Italian clubs have asked us about Banega's situation - and English teams as well - but we do not want to sell Banega," said Vazquez.
"Now it is difficult [to put a price on him] and when you finish the Copa America he will be worth more money."
TalkSPORT also credits Arsenal with an interest in the player, as Arsene Wenger looks to spend this summer in an effort to claim a first piece of silverware at the Emirates in six years.
The Frenchman has vowed to spend this summer, stating back in May that he'd be in the transfer market should the 'right' type of player become available to Arsenal.
Despite both players stating their aims to stay with the Gunners, Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri remain transfer targets for a number of clubs this summer, and should either leave it's likely that Arsenal will look to replace with a player in the central midfield position.
Banega is an option for the north London outfit, although his fiery temperament would be an issue the Arsenal manager would consider before bringing the player to the club.
