Manchester City and Arsenal target Samuel Eto’o is not planning on leaving Inter Milan, according to president Massimo Moratti, despite the star explicitly saying he wanted to head to an English club.
Eto’o recently told reporters: “Playing in England is an idea I have had in my head for some time and now what matters to me is finding a good team.”
With this information in mind, both Arsenal and Manchester City became targets for the star, with Arsenal reportedly hopeful of making a big signing for the summer to end their trophyless run, and City believing they have the budget to cover whatever price Inter put over Eto’o’s head.
But now Moratti has come out and insisted that Eto’o, along with Manchester United target Wesley Sneijder and Maicon, will not be leaving the club in the summer.
“What I can say is that I have spoken to Maicon, Sneijder and Eto'o and they have all told me they want to continue with us,” Moratti said.
The comments will come as a blow to both Arsenal and Manchester City, with both sides hoping that Eto’o is still privately hoping for a move to England.
