Barnsley are hoping to complete the double signing of Rochdale pair Scott Wiseman and Matt Done in the next 48 hours.

Former Dale manager Keith Hill, installed as Mark Robins' successor at Oakwell last month, has returned to his former club to strengthen his new squad, with defender Wiseman, 25, and winger Done, 22, understood to have agreed terms with Barnsley.

New Dale manager Steve Eyre said: "I know a lot about Matt and Scott and it would have been nice to work with them, but they have the chance to play at Championship level and I cannot stand in their way."

He added: "I also don't want any players at the club whose hearts and minds aren't 100% Rochdale, so I'll give them my best wishes and move on."

Dale chief executive Colin Garlick said: "We're disappointed to lose Scott and Matt, but to be honest we were expecting Keith to come in for some of the players.

"We have agreed a deal with Barnsley which we believe is a very good one and we will move forward.

"On behalf of the club I would like to thank Scott and Matt for their services over the years to Rochdale Football Club and wish them well for the future."
