Barker brings Hughes to Shakers

Published Add your comment

Bury boss Richie Barker has captured his first summer signing after securing the services of Mark Hughes on a two-year deal.

The Shakers have cast their net wide to bring the 24-year-old former Walsall defender back from Australia, where he had been playing for North Queensland Fury.

Liverpool-born Hughes started his career at Everton but made just three first-team appearances for the club.

He spent two years at Northampton and also had a loan spell at Stockport in addition to his season with the Saddlers.

Hughes must still pass a medical and receive international clearance for the deal to be completed.
