‘Only formalities’ for Toon target to sign over Everton – reports

Neil Taylor is set to be confirmed as Alan Pardew’s fourth sigining for Newcastle, with Toon sources claiming ‘only formalities are left’ for the deal to be made official.

Newcastle are currently undergoing a radical shake up of their squad, with Johan Cabay, Sylvian Marveaux and Demba Ba coming in and skipper Kevin Nolan, Joey Barton, Alan Smith and numerous other core players set for exits from the northern club.

Weeks ago it was made public that Newcastle had put a £1 million offer in for Taylor, and the Wales international had reportedly told Swansea he wanted to make a move to St James’ Park.

The 22-year-old has been offered a five year deal with Newcastle, in an apparent bid by Mike Ashley to create a younger squad with a long term plan of participating in European football once more.

Wales Online is claiming that the final touches are being placed on the contract between Taylor and Newcastle, despite a last minute bid from Everton.

While Everton appear to be less of a threat to Swansea in a possible relegation battle next season, Taylor's request to move to Newcastle left Everton in the cold over any possible deal.
