Dietmar Hamann believes Liverpool are just two or three signings away from being a real force next season, and has tipped his former club to challenge for the title.
The former Reds midfielder has been impressed by the club's upturn in form since the arrival of manager Kenny Dalglish, and feels the form shown under his stewardship certainly bodes well for the future.
"Things turned round when Kenny took over, and they finished the season as well as anyone," said Hamann. "If they can start the season as they finished the last one I think Liverpool can be a force next year."
Hamann is anticipating an even more competitive Barclays Premier League title race in 2011-12, and is confident Liverpool can get amongst the main contenders.
"I think if you look at the other teams, Arsenal have their problems and Chelsea –they need players," he continued. "There is every chance if Kenny brings two or three more players in, why not?
"Liverpool have already showed their ambition with the money they spent on Jordan Henderson.
"He is an all-round midfielder. He's had a good first year at Sunderland, and he's got the capabilities to be a success."
