Barcelona look to raise £9m in Arsenal skipper chase – reports

Barcelona are trying to pull together funds to purchase Arsenal skipper Cesc Fabregas, and will sell Bojan Krkic to Roma for £9 million to get closer to their prize, according to talkSPORT.

Barcelona have courted Fabregas for years now, and while Arsenal have continually blocked a move for the captain, should the price be right Arsene Wenger would be hard pressed to say no to a move for Fabregas.

While the Arsenal manager reportedly feels that Fabregas is worth £35 million, Barcelona president Sandro Rosell insists the star won’t be purchased for such a high fee.

“Guardiola knows the values of players and Cesc's is less than €40million,” Rosell said.

“Barcelona will offer less and if [Arsenal] don't accept, then he won't come. Pep knows the club is not well-off in terms of money."

But Barcelona are hoping that the sale of Krkic will ensure the Spanish giants are £9 million closer to being more flexible with their summer budget, as an agreement with Arsenal to purchase Fabregas looks closer than ever.

Today Fabregas revealed that he sees Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola as his biggest idol, in a move that will no doubt increase speculation of a move.

"Pep Guardiola has always been my biggest idol on the pitch,” Fabregas said.
