AFC Wimbledon have confirmed that they have rejected an offer from Bournemouth for midfielder Steven Gregory.

The League One club made the bid for the 23-year-old on Thursday, and it seems they will not be returning with an improved offer.

"Thursday afternoon, AFC Bournemouth made an offer for Steven Gregory. This offer is a long way below the club's valuation so it was rejected by the board late Thursday afternoon," read a statement on the AFC Wimbledon website.

"In subsequent discussions with Bournemouth they made it clear that they will not be increasing their offer and so we regard the matter as closed."

Gregory has impressed during the past two seasons at AFC Wimbledon and was a key figure in helping the club win promotion to the Football League for the first time.

He began his career at Wycombe and made six substitute appearances for Wanderers before joining Hayes & Yeading in 2008 and then moving on to the Dons 12 months later.
