Barnet have appointed former manager Paul Fairclough as the club's director of international development.

Fairclough, 61, who guided the Bees to promotion to the Football League in 2005, had been in charge of football development at the club since stepping down as manager in March.

Bees chairman Tony Kleanthous said: "Paul takes up his new role on July 1 and among his first tasks will be to develop an international partnership for our youth system, which is a project we've been working on for the past 12 months."

He added: "When I met Paul Fairclough we were languishing in the Conference.

"Now we are back in the Football League and boast one of the best training centres in professional football and are progressing with our development plans.

"I'm glad Paul and I will be continuing our working partnership."
