Arsenal face a battle with Tottenham Hotspur for Juan Mata, according to The Times.
The Spanish international, who was a member of the World Cup winning squad last summer and influential for the victorious Under-21's at the European Championships in Denmark.
And after Arsenal had a bid reportedly rejected for Mata, Tottenham are ready to join the race for the midfielder.
With Wilson Palacios and Luka Modric close to leaving the club, Mata would be an ideal addition to the Tottenham team ahead of a season where they are expected to challenge the top four in the Premier League.
However, with Cesc Fabregas leaving for Barcelona, Arsenal are also in dire need of need blood in their midfield.
As well as fighting over Mata, Arsenal and Tottenham are also battleing over the signings of Gary Cahill and Eden Hazard.
