David Hoilett is currently in talks over a new deal with Blackburn and looks set to sign a contract extension, with the midfielder insisting his future is with Rovers.

“I am happy at Blackburn Rovers, I’m playing for them consistently and of course I would be prepared to sign a new contract,” Hoilett told a Canadian radio station.

“Right now I am focused on playing for Blackburn and making a name for myself in the league. The national side will come after that and I am focusing on Blackburn.

“I just kept focused, listened to family and friends and when I got my shot I had to take it.

“I had to work hard and capitalise on every opportunity I got. I did that and showed a consistent performance to keep myself in the side.”

According to the Lancashire Telegraph, Steve Kean has flown out to Canada to meet with David Hoilett Snr to discuss the terms of a new contract, believed to be for five years.

While Hoilett has had interest from other English clubs, Blackburn are reportedly in pole position to keep the 21-year-old at Ewood Park.
