Torquay have signed young Austrian goalkeeper Robert Olejnik from Scottish outfit Falkirk.

The former Under-21s international came through the youth system at Aston Villa and is highly rated north of the border. Torquay boss Martin Ling says he has tracked the 24-year-old since his time working for Hibernian.

"He's a player I watched when I was working with Hibs and he was playing for Falkirk," said Ling.

"You look at his pedigree and speak to the people at Aston Villa, where he was between the ages of 16 and 20, and they all speak very highly of him and thought he was very unlucky to be released.

"I have never heard any negatives about Robert Olejnik. He is an Austrian Under-21s international and comes here with massive pedigree.

"He will be good for us and we will be good for him."
