Arsenal face hitch in £17m player-plus-cash deal - reports

Gary Cahill’s move to Arsenal has hit a snag, with Bolton snubbing Nicklas Bendtner in a player-plus-cash exchange deal, according to The Sun.

Arsenal have edged ahead of numerous English and European clubs to sign Cahill, with the defender rated at £17 million. But while Arsenal had reportedly offered Bendtner, who has made his intentions to leave the London club clear, Bolton aren’t interested in taking on the striker.

Bendtner doesn’t appear to be interested in a move to Bolton either, with the Arsenal star’s father and agent telling today: "There has been interest from all the big leagues, but there is nothing concrete yet.

"The window is open for a long time."

If Italian and Spanish clubs are chasing Bendtner, the 23-year-old could in fact refuse the transfer as well as Bolton saying no. And Arsenal will either have to cough up the £17 million fee or find another player who would be suitable for a trade.
