Walsall have handed highly-rated striker George Bowerman a new contract.

The 19-year-old, who has come through the ranks at the Banks's Stadium, signed his first professional contract last year. Bowerman spent some time on loan at Redditch last season but will be hoping for more opportunities with the Saddlers after putting pen to paper.

He told the club's official website: "I feel that I have come back fitter and stronger than before. It's been a tough first few days back because we have really been put us through our paces.

"I've got plenty in the tank and want to show what I am capable of in the pre-season games and be in a position to really push on.

"First and foremost, I want to get a few goals in pre-season and then start the season strongly for the reserves before pushing for a place in the first-team."
