Rochdale have signed defender Marc Twaddle on a two-year deal.

The 24-year-old was a free agent after his contract at Falkirk expired last month.

Manager Steve Eyre revealed Dale had beaten off competition from clubs in the Championship to sign Twaddle.

"Marc has a lot of potential and we are delighted he has decided to come and join us," Eyre told the club's official website.

"Some Championship teams had expressed an interest but while that's all they were showing, we had an opportunity to get him down for talks and explain what we are about.

"He came down on Thursday and watched a bit of training and asked to sign for us."
