Former Peterborough United duo Chris Whelpdale and Charlie Lee are relishing the prospect of returning to Priestfield as fully-fledged Gillingham players.
The pair both enjoyed loan spells with the Gills last year, and revealed when the opportunity to return on a permanent basis arose it was an offer too good to turn down.
"I was here in December and I really enjoyed myself, we got to play regular football and the lads in the dressing room were great," said Whelpdale following the completion of his transfer last week.
"We built up a great relationship with them and I think the enjoyment factor was a big reason why I came back."
Both players made a huge impact for Andy Hessenthaler's side last season, turning the Gills' fortunes around during a run which culminated in 27 league games unbeaten.
Lee, 24, who follows in the footsteps of Whelpdale, signing a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee reiterated:
"It was the same for me, I really enjoyed it here, loved every minute of it," he beamed. "The supporters were brilliant for us too, even though we were only here for four games.
"I wish it could have been longer but we're back now and hopefully it's going to be a good year."
