Liverpool are preparing to clear out of a number of players to make room for Jordan Henderson, Charlie Adam, and further additions, according to reports.

The Reds have been busy so far this transfer window with the additions of Henderson and Adam, who fit the bill for John W. Henry’s transfer policy of signing young players with a future.

The counterpoint to those additions is that Liverpool are now charged with the task of making room for such new talent.

According to The Daily Mail, a fire sale is about to happen at Anfield, with a number of names mentioned as available for transfer to make room for incoming signings.

Joe Cole, Raul Meireles, Alberto Aquilani, Christian Poulsen, Milan Jovanovic, David Ngog, Paul, Konchesky, and Chris Mavinga have all been mentioned as potentially surplus to requirements at Liverpool, and could be sold if a reasonable offer were to come in.

Liverpool have gone as far as to tell Jovanovic he is free to find a new club, while they are believed to have offered Ngog in player-plus-cash bids earlier in the current window.

The Reds were unsuccessful in their attempt to to make Aquilani’s Juventus loan move permanent, with the Old Lady balking at the alleged £14 million asking price.

West Ham and Tottenham have been linked to Joe Cole, although nothing seems concrete. Little has been made of Poulsen and Konchesky’s availability, although the left back is believed to be surplus to requirements under Kenny Dalglish.

The good news for Liverpool is that Rennes are rumoured to be interested in Mavinga, with £1 million thought to be the fee.

Rennes manager Pierre Droessi told French newspaper L’Equipe: “Mavinga? He is a player we are following and we are interested in him but it is too early to talk about it.”
