Chelsea's hopes of signing Brazilian wonderkid Neymar have all but ended after the Santos starlet edged ever closer to Real Madrid.
According to talkSPORT, the 19-year-old will begin talks with the La Liga giants after Neymar's agent Wagner Ribeiro revealed Jose Mourinho is in pole position to land his client.
"I am totally in favour of negotiating with Real Madrid," said Ribeiro. "I know the President Florentino Perez well from the time he took Robinho to the club.
"Also, when Neymar was 13, he trained for 15 days with Real Madrid and the club showed interest in signing him then, but his father advised him to stay at Santos.
"So if I had to choose one of the two, I would choose Real Madrid."
Chelsea had long been linked with a summer move for Neymar prior to the arrival of new Blues boss Andre Villas-Boas.
But since his appointment, the former Porto boss has played down speculation suggesting there would be widespread changes at Stamford Bridge ahead of the new season.
With a £40million buy-out clause in his current contract, Chelsea know the sum needed to prompt negotiations, but following Ribeiro's comments, the Blues will likely end their interest their.
