Steven Defour may be set to head to Manchester United after all, with the midfielder’s move to Lokomotiv Moscow hitting problems with price demands, according to Talksport.
Reports have been widely circulating today that claim Defour is poised for a move to Lokomotiv, giving weight to rumours that the Russian side had beaten Manchester United to sign the 23-year-old.
But Lokomotiv are reportedly not willing to offer the full £11 million in Defour’s release clause, while United have a larger budget and may be able to outbid their rivals and convince Standard Liege to send their star to Old Trafford.
Lokomotiv were only willing to offer £8 million for Defour, and Standard Liege are holding out in the hopes of garnering the extra £3 million. Manchester United will no doubt be considering launching a last minute bid for Defour, who has been on Sir Alex Ferguson’s radar for some months now.
Aston Villa and Everton are also said to be in the mix for Defour’s signature, but Manchester United are favourites with their offer Champions League football to the star.
