Royal appointment for McAnuff

Reading have announced Jobi McAnuff as their new captain.

The 29-year-old winger signed a new three-year-deal at the Madejski Stadium last week.

McAnuff told the club's official website: "It is a massive honour, one of the biggest honours in my career and one of the best moments as well, to be captain of a club like this."

He added: "I must admit I'm still getting my head around it a little bit.

"The gaffer spoke to me (on Wednesday) and as soon as he mentioned it I jumped at the chance. Obviously I said I'd love to do it and I'm just delighted to be given the opportunity."
