Notts County striker Lee Hughes is set to undergo head surgery.

The 35-year-old has been suffering with decompression sickness since going scuba diving during his honeymoon this summer.

The Magpies hoped the problem would resolve itself but it has not, meaning Hughes will now have an operation on Friday.

"He has got to have an operation on his sinuses. It is not major, but I wouldn't say it is minor either because it is his head," said County boss Martin Allen.

"After the operation he has got to have a rest for a week, so we hope to have him back with us a week on Friday."

Meanwhile, trialist striker Alex Wall scored as the Magpies won 1-0 at non-league Kettering on Wednesday night.
