Manchester United are reportedly keen on Valencia winger - and Arsenal target - Juan Mata.

According to Spanish publication Las Provincias, the Barclays Premier League champions are one of several clubs courting the 23-year-old, who could be allowed to leave the Mestalla for €30 million.

Arsenal have been linked with Mata for a number of weeks but, if reports are to be believed, could now be contested in their pursuit of the Spain international by United.

Should the interest of United be genuine it would, perhaps, come as a surprise, giving the riches already at the disposal of Sir Alex Ferguson in terms of wide options.

The United boss already has Nani, Antonio Valencia and Ji-sung Park to choose from and - after Ashley Young moved to Old Trafford last month - Ferguson already has plenty of penetration available to him.

This could see Arsenal return to the front of the queue for Mata, as Arsene Wenger looks to reinforce a squad that could potentially be shorn of Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri.

The futures of the Arsenal duo - subjects of interest from Barcelona and Manchester City respectively - are still unclear, but Wenger remains confident they will stay at the Emirates Stadium.
