Rotherham manager Andy Scott has warned Tom Pope he will end up on the scrapheap unless he accepts an offer to leave the club.

The 25-year-old striker has been told by Scott that he does not feature in his plans this term and Pope has been asked not to attend pre-season training. Scott, who has brought in three strikers over the summer, is urging Pope to make a football decision and move on from the Millers.

"He understands that he is not going to play here and he needs to move on to progress his career," Scott said.

"He has a year left on his contract and he needs to play games this year otherwise he'll be on the scrapheap.

"He has been offered a good deal to leave and he is weighing that option up. I spoke to him last week and told him the exact situation here and his agent is aware of that.

"The wages he is earning at this football club, he knows he is on good money but he has to look at his career. He has to look at the bigger picture and hopefully he understands he is better off playing games and enjoying his football again."
