£10m Toon star speaks out on Chelsea rumours

Cheik Tiote insists he is not planning on leaving Newcastle this summer, despite transfer rumours connecting the midfielder with a move to Chelsea.

Earlier today reports were speculating that Tiote may leave Newcastle for a bigger club, with Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea all connected to the Cote d’Ivoire international.

But Tiote, who The Sun rated at £10 million, insists he isn’t going anywhere this summer and plans to see out his six year contract at Newcastle.

"I am a Newcastle player, and I will do my job in Newcastle,” Tiote said.

"I have a contract, and that's the most important thing for me.

"I'm happy — if I wasn't happy I wouldn't have signed for six years."

Chelsea are yet to make a big move in the transfer window, and while the club were waiting on a new manager, now that Andre Villas-Boas is settled into the top job, a big signing appears to be just around the corner.

Porto stars Radamel Falcao and Hulk, along with Palermo star Javier Pastore and Genk keeper Thibaut Courtois have been recently connected with Chelsea, as well as Tiote. But now that Tiote has pledged his future to Newcastle, the Blues will have to look elsewhere, giving Alan Pardew some relief.
