Branston handed Bantams armband

Summer signing Guy Branston has been named as Bradford's captain for the forthcoming campaign.

The experienced no-nonsense centre-back, 32, arrived at Valley Parade from Torquay in June and manager Peter Jackson has wasted little time making him an integral part of his plans for 2011/12.

Jackson told City's official website: "I think we lacked a real leader during my time at the club last season. We needed someone to be a real character, a leader, and someone who would demand respect from the players. In that regard, I just felt it was therefore a natural choice to go with Guy. "

He added: "I told him a couple of days ago and he was almost in tears he was that overjoyed with my decision."
