Manchester United are contemplating an approach for Brazilian starlet Paulo Henrique Ganso, according to reports.

The People claims the Barclays Premier League champions are are leading the race for the £25 million-rated midfielder, dubbed the 'new Kaka'.

The 21-year-old - who plies his trade with Santos - is also interesting AC Milan, Paris St Germain and Tottenham, with offers for his services said to be imminent.

It has been alleged that Sir Alex Ferguson has received postive reports from United scouts on Ganso, while Old Trafford trio Anderson, Fabio Da Silva and Rafael Da Silva have been waxing lyrical about their compatriot.

Whether or not United decide to formalise their interest in the youngster remains to be seen, but midfield reinforcements are thought to be a summer priority for the Red Devils.

With a midfield shorn of Paul Scholes and Owen Hargreaves - and potentially Darron Gibson - Ferguson is keen to bolster his United ranks.

Wesley Sneijder, Luka Modric and Samir Nasri have all been touted as potential acqusitions for United.
