Several Barclays Premier League teams are set to fight it out for Bolgna starlet Gaston Ramirez. The player recently stated his intentions to leave the Serie A outfit in favour of a club competing in Europe.

A host of clubs including Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester City are reported to be interested in the highly-rated Uruguayan with Bologna allegedly knocking-back a bid from Man City in April.

The 20-year-old refused to comment about a bid from the Blues at the time but has now publically declared his ambition to leave his current club.

"Bologna won't let me go at the moment and I feel like a prisoner. I want to play for a club that competes for European trophies, that would be better for my career," Ramirez told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

"I am a Bologna player but I will decide whether to remain here or not when I meet with club officials next week.”

A move to City could prove unlikely if Roberto Mancini steps up in his pursuit for Arsenal’s Samir Nasri after declaring his interest in the Gunners playmaker.

Arsenal may well step up their interest if they end up losing Nasri but may find themselves in a transfer scrap if Tottenham need to find a replacement for Chelsea target Luka Modric.
