Carlisle have released trialists Lasse Merring-Mikkelsen and Stuart Green following Tuesday's friendly against Morecambe.

Danish youngster Merring-Mikkelsen will return to parent club Silkeborg while 30-year-old Green is free to find a new club.

"Both lads have been unlucky because we have some very good players already contracted to the club in those positions," boss Greg Abbott told the club's official website.

"They've worked really hard and they've been a pleasure to have around, but there is already a good amount of competition for the areas of the pitch they work in.

"We asked them to stay with us because they have had a good few weeks, and we wanted to take a longer look to make sure that we made the right decision.

"The door isn't completely closed. They are players that we will continue to monitor because they have both shown us that they can play the game, and they have fitted in really well with the squad."
