Reported Manchester United target Edinson Cavani has had no contact with any potential suitors according to the player's agent.

Skysports.com has revealed how Napoli have placed a whopping €100million price tag on the 24-year-old Serie A striker, which looks to have successfully warded off unwanted interest in the club's prized asset.

Red Devils boss Sir Alex Ferguson has been consistently linked with a move for Cavani - who has been nicknamed 'El Matador', despite having a surplus of striking options at Old Trafford.

His 26 league goals in his debut season for Napoli seemingly attracting interest from a number of clubs in Italy and further afield.

Local rivals Manchester City have also been credited with an interest in the Uruguayan international front man, who only recently signed a contract extension at Napoli tying him to the club until June 2016.

Despite speculation linking Manchester United and neighbours City with Cavani, his agent Claudio Anellucci has moved to distance his client from another move this summer.

Responding to reports linking him directly with Old Trafford, he told calciomercato.it:

"What about the interest from Manchester United? I have not had any contact with any Italian or foreign clubs. These are just rumours circulating, there is nothing true."
