Just when it looked like Tottenham had missed out on the signing of Leandro Damiao, they may now be hope where was once despair.
Despite serious interest from Spurs in Damiao - with an offer of £15 million reported to have been made - the Brazilian striker extended his contract with Internacional just last week.
But, according to the Daily Mail, Spurs could reignite their interest in the 21-year-old as Manchester City flop Jo nears a move to the Porto Alegre club.
And, although Damiao has pledged his future to Internacional, it has been claimed they would be willing to accept an improved offer of around £15 million from Spurs.
Spurs will, however, have their work cut out if they hope to sign the Brazil international, with 10 other clubs reported to be chasing his signature.
The signing of more potent forward options is known to be a summer transfer priority for Harry Redknapp and, with 24 goals in 29 games last year, Damiao would provide Spurs with just that.
Redknapp has, however, been told by Spurs chairman Daniel Levy that he must trim his squad before significant investment can be made, with Robbie Keane and Wilson Palacios tipped to leave White Hart Lane.
