Blackburn are awaiting a response from Junior Hoilett after the 21-year-old was offered a new contract.

The Canadian is entering the last year of his current deal at Ewood Park and manager Steve Kean has made securing his long-term commitment a priority.

Hoilett put in some impressive performances in the second half of last season and after speaking to the forward and his parents in Canada last month, Kean has revealed an official offer of an improved contract has been made.

"I had a great talk with his mum and dad in Toronto," said the Rovers boss.

"He has since received an offer of a very good healthy contract and the signs are that is progressing well."
