Barcelona youngster Oriol Romeu is being targeting by Andre Villas-Boas, as the Chelsea manager looks to make the midfielder his second signing in the Blues managerial post.
The Daily Mirror claims that a deal worth £4.4 million is being tabled for the starlet, who has been regularly praised by former Barcelona reserve coach Luis Enrique, and will be completed in a matter of days.
But the Spanish giants are reportedly holding out on agreeing for Romeu to make the move, because they want Chelsea to allow them first refusal on a buy back after two years.
Chelsea, like all Barclays Premier League clubs, are aiming to match up to Barcelona within the next 2-3 years, and Roman Abramovich has reportedly targeted Spanish youngsters in the hope of taking on players who have maximum discipline and technical ability.
The Chelsea owner has already sanctioned a deal with Barca youngster Gael Etock, and believes that if Romeu is added into the mix, the club will be able to challenge for top European honours in the short-term future.
