Harry Redknapp is targeting two big signings in the transfer period, in order to keep Luka Modric happy at Tottenham next season.

“It's early days in the transfer market and no one is more ambitious than our chairman Daniel Levy.

“Luka wants to know that we'll be right up there challenging next season and we are working hard to bring in a couple of big signings that may convince him to stick with us," the Tottenham manager said.

Modric made public recently his ambition to move to Chelsea, but Tottenham have insisted that they will keep their star playmaker at White Hart Lane.

And while Chelsea are still reportedly chasing Modric, Redknapp says he is intent on keeping top players at the club rather than selling them for big money transfer fees.

Tottenham will be challenging to qualify for the Champions League next season once more, and edge ahead of top four contenders Manchester City, and despite being able to profit over £20 million from the sale of Modric to Chelsea, the club are strategising to be a top four side rather than a feeder club.
