Tottenham midfielder Giovani Dos Santos is being lined up as the replacement for Alexis Sanchez at Udinese, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The 22 year-old has struggled to force his way into Harry Redknapp's plans at White Hart Lane since his move from Barcelona in 2008.

However, the Spurs playmaker had a sterling performance at the CONCACAF Gold Cup, scoring the goal of the tournament in the final against the US and outshining Manchester United superstar Chicharito.

Those performances attracted the attention of Valencia, Udinese and Sevilla. Sevilla were thought to be the favourites all summer, but talks stalled weeks ago after Sevilla only offered to take Dos Santos on loan, while Tottenham were looking for an outright sale.

According to reports in Italy today, Udinese have sent an £8.7 million bid to Tottenham with a view of signing the Mexican hero to a five-year contract.

The deal follows news late last night that Udinese and Barcelona came to an agreement over the transfer of Chilean international Alexis Sanchez. The clubs agreed a £22.8 million deal, with add-ons potentially taking that fee up to £33 million.

But Sevilla appear to be right behind Udinese with a bid of their own after the departure of Diego Capel to Sporting Lisbon on Friday has cleared the way for Dos Santos to swap White Hart Lane for Spain rather than Italy.

Sky Sports were reporting late Friday afternoon that Sevilla had submitted a bid, although it's not believed to be as lucrative as that of the Italian clubs, it's understood that Dos Santos would prefer a move to Spain.
