Arsenal are considering an approach for Villarreal midfielder Santi Cazorla, it has been claimed.

According to Metro, the north London club are ready to rival Malaga for the Spain international, who is valued by his employers at around £25 million.

Malaga have reportedly already tabled an offer of around £17.5 million for the 26-year-old, which could hasten Arsenal into a move of their own.

Despite the acquisition of Gervinho from Lille, Arsenal are keen to bring more attack-minded players to the Emirates Stadium as doubts still hang over the respective futures of Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri.

Arsenal are said to be prepared to negotiate with Barcelona over the proposed sale of Fabregas, although the two clubs are still some way apart in their valuations.

Reports suggest the Barca will make a final bid of £33.5 million for the Arsenal captain, while the Gunners are demanding £40 million.

Nasri, meanwhile, is a target for Manchester City and, with only one year remaining on his contract, could be sold by Arsenal this summer.
