Watford skipper John Eustace has signed a contract extension until 2013.

The 31-year-old midfielder's previous deal was due to expire next summer and had been linked with a move to npower Championship rivals Derby.

Eustace moved to Vicarage Road from Stoke for £250,000 in 2008 and has made 119 appearances for the Hornets, scoring 12 goals.

He grabbed Watford's first goal of last season in their surprise opening-day win at Norwich and went on to make 42 appearances, netting six times.
