Newcastle United have turned down the chance to bring back defenders Habib Beye and Sebastian Bassong to St James' Park, according to the Daily Mail.
The defensive duo, who spent a difficult few years in the north-east, have been linked with a return to the club after being frozen out at their respective clubs.
However, reports suggest Newcastle have rejected the opportunity to resign the pair.
Beye is currently with Aston Villa, while Bassong is with Tottenham, and both clubs possess already enough cover to dispense with either.
With Newcastle having already brought in three free transfers this summer, the possibility to bringing back either Beye or Bassong would represent a cheap deal for the club.
