Tranmere have handed a one-year contract to Northern Irish left-back David Buchanan after he impressed during a trial period.

The 25-year-old has been training with Rovers for the last two weeks and will now make a permanent move to Prenton Park subject to international clearance.

Rovers manager Les Parry told the club's official website: "I'm really pleased to be able to bring David to the club."

He added: "He has done well on trial here, in both the matches and in training, and his attitude has been fantastic.

"He's got league experience, is strong in the tackle and has good distribution. Having seen him in training for a couple of weeks I know he'll fit in well with the rest of the squad."

Buchanan spent last year at Scottish club Hamilton after beginning his career at Bury.
