Fleming joins Chesterfield

Published Add your comment

Chesterfield have signed Scottish goalkeeper Greg Fleming on a one-year deal.

The 24-year old stopper is already familiar with Spireites goalkeeping coach Mark Crossley as the two played together at Oldham Athletic.

Speaking to the club's official website, Crossley said: "I've worked with Greg before and know what he's capable of."

However the manager expects his new signing to be challenging for a place between the sticks rather than being content on the bench.

Crossley added: "His all-round game is very similar to (first choice keeper) Tommy Lee's and we expect the two players to be battling it out for the number one spot at the start of the season."

Fleming has been at Galway United since being released from Oldham in January and had previously represented his country at under-21 level.
